A New Chapter at Old Homestead Campground: Meet the Statons!
Hello from the Old Homestead Campground! We are Mike and Lauren Staton, the proud new owners of this beautiful property, and we are beyond excited to share our story and vision with you. As of mid-October, we officially took the reins of Old Homestead Campground, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds as we make this place even more special for you, our guests, and the entire North Park community.
A Dream Come True
For us, it was love at first sight. From the moment we laid eyes on the Old Homestead property, we knew it was the one. Nestled in the breathtaking beauty of North Park, the campground immediately captured our hearts with its natural charm, open spaces, and incredible potential. We could see it all—families enjoying the outdoors, campers relaxing by the campfire, and kids exploring the woods.'
As we toured the property for the first time, something magical happened: we spotted a moose! It was a sign, we thought. We had found something truly special.
Living in Berthoud, CO with our two boys, we have always had a love for the outdoors, so owning a campground felt like a dream come true. This new adventure not only gives us the chance to embrace the great outdoors but also to contribute to a community that has already made us feel so welcome.
The Support from the North Park Community
We’ve already felt such an outpouring of support and encouragement from the local community, and we can hardly believe how lucky we are to be part of this incredible area. From warm welcomes to helpful advice, the people here have made us feel right at home. As we get to know this beautiful place and its people even more, we’re excited to become a central part of the North Park community and share our passion for the outdoors with all of you.
What’s in Store: Our Vision for Old Homestead Campground
We have big plans for Old Homestead Campground over the coming months and years, and we’re thrilled to invite you along for the ride! Here’s a sneak peek of what we’re working on:
Restoring and renovating the Cabins and Bathhouse: Our first priority is to make sure our guests have a comfortable and memorable stay. We’ll be renovating the cabins and updating the bath house to ensure they meet the high standards we’ve set for the property. However, we want to make it clear that we deeply respect the history this campground holds. From the moment we stepped onto this property, we recognized the immense significance of its past. The Old Homestead has seen generations of families gather here, and we want to preserve as much of that authentic charm and history as possible while giving the spaces a fresh, functional update. We plan to honor the unique character of the property with thoughtful renovations that respect its roots and the memories it holds.
Expanding the RV Sites: We know many of our guests enjoy camping with their RVs, so we’re planning to add more RV sites to accommodate more visitors. We can’t wait to offer a variety of options to suit every camper’s needs.
Creating Trails and Activities: One of the things we love most about this property is its incredible natural beauty, and we can’t wait to enhance that by creating new hiking trails and adding fun activities for guests of all ages. Whether you're into hiking, fishing, dirt biking, riding ATVs, hunting or just relaxing in nature, we’re working to make sure there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
The Big Question: What’s Happening with the Dance Hall? We know this is a big question on everyone’s mind, and we’re just as excited as you are to see what the future holds for the historic Dance Hall! Our current focus is on getting the guest accommodations up and running, but once that’s in place, we will turn our attention to the Dance Hall with the idea of transforming it into a community gathering space. We envision hosting local events, live music, food, and drinks—something for everyone to enjoy. Stay tuned for updates as we make this vision a reality!
What’s Next: Stay Tuned for Updates!
As we embark on this exciting journey, we’re committed to keeping you informed every step of the way. We’ll be sharing progress on our renovations, new amenities, and events right here on our blog and through our social media channels.
We’re so grateful to be a part of this beautiful community and can’t wait to welcome you to Old Homestead Campground. Whether you’re here for a relaxing getaway, an adventure-filled trip, or to take part in one of our future events, we hope you’ll join us as we work to make Old Homestead Campground a place that will feel like home for everyone.
Thank you for your support and for being a part of this new chapter. We can’t wait to meet you!
Warmly,
Mike and Lauren Staton
